Mortgage preparation timeline

A calm sequence for organising money, evidence, property checks, and questions before a mortgage conversation.

General education only

Start with the household picture

Write down income, regular costs, debts, credit limits, dependants, deposit or equity, and any upcoming changes. This is an organising exercise, not an approval calculation.

Build the evidence trail

Collect identity, address, income, statements, deposit-source, debt, and property evidence in a way that keeps dates and account ownership clear. Keep explanations factual and complete.

Flag changes early

Record a job change, parental leave, variable income, business event, gifted deposit, family loan, planned sale, or refix date. Ask the receiving lender or authorised adviser which current documents are needed.

Leave property checks until the right moment

A general mortgage conversation and a property-specific decision are different steps. When a property is selected, allow time for title, LIM, inspection, insurance, valuation, lender, and legal questions.

Review before submitting anything

Check that the application tells the same story as the statements and supporting documents. MoreGage cannot assess readiness or predict an approval; the receiving provider makes its own assessment.
