Can I apply after changing jobs?

How a recent job change can affect income evidence, probation, timing, and lender questions.

General education only

What can change?

A job change can improve income while creating a shorter evidence history, a probation question, a different pay structure, or a gap between roles.

Make the change visible

Keep the signed agreement, start date, salary details, probation terms, recent payslips, and bank credits. A move between stable roles is not the same evidence story as moving into commission, contracting, or a new business.

Timing is lender-specific

Whether the change matters depends on timing, contract, income type, employment continuity, and current lender criteria. Do not assume a universal waiting period.

Illustrative example

Talia has a higher salary but only two payslips and remains in probation. The example demonstrates a timing question, not a recommended application date.

Evidence categories to organise

  • Employment agreement
  • Start date
  • Probation terms
  • Recent payslips
  • Salary credits
  • Changed income type
